Road Trip

ROAD TRIP is an aerial exploration of journeys and stories on our roads.  Roads travel through the landscape creating a common thread on which to play out the stories of our lives. Roads are metaphors for the stages of our lives, twisting and turning, constantly offering new scenes from the solitude of quiet dirt tracks to the frenzied and crowded freeways of the city.    ROAD TRIP explores the colour of light with ‘road works’, bridges, hitch hikers, farm machinery, trucks and of course, Pete’s signature cows. Cast your mind back and try to remember the sense of wellbeing travelling as a kid in a car through trees while the lemon light of morning strobes through the car. Remember how the perspective of the shadows changed as you passed by, and did you ever take the time to notice the colour of the shadows? “People viewing my work seem to connect emotionally, they tell me how they feel when they view my works and the common theme is one of being transported back to their childhood, to a safer time full of potential and hope”.

“My works are all stories narrating my experience, but I’ve found that most everyone shares them, so many tell similar stories – I just paint them”.
